diomedes
I don't know if I stumbled into the correct area to ask this question: Does window blinds allow transparent explorer windows as part of its theme skinning? Particularly for windows 7. If not, does it do that for windows vista? I tried windowblinds in the free trial. It kinda crashed a bit, and I don't think I really was able to figure it out. But if it permits those configurations I'd probably persue it further. I assume that's what these .wba files are used for, correct? thanks Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/959612-does-window-blinds-enable-transparency-win-7-or-vista/ Share on other sites
fhpuqrgrpgvirzhpujbj
I'm not sure what you mean, if you are referring to the window frame than yes it can be transparent, if you mean the folder background then I'm not sure. cleverclogs
Yes you can. In Windowblinds 6 you can for sure - have a look here I have wb6 but I can't really find a use for it in Windows 7 - so many of the skins are incredibly ugly :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/959612-does-window-blinds-enable-transparency-win-7-or-vista/#findComment-593475822 Share on other sites

I really thought I was doing something wrong. Not only did it crash in windows 7, but it did nothing worth doing. So this means it's only in Vista? That's too bad, there's nothing like that for Windows 7 is there? Toys like chaos crystal are nice, but the also make the objects themselves transparent, which is not great. Is it possible that software to support this would come around eventually? zerokool316
I feel like I wasted my money, it doesn't really support 64 bit, most it crashes none stop and the app they use to download the app mags you with adds about some crappy games, never again will I pay for that app most of the themes aren't even supported for windows 7, their themes work in xp Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/959612-does-window-blinds-enable-transparency-win-7-or-vista/#findComment-593475870 Share on other sites
farmeunit
Not exactly what you are looking for, but PowerMenu will do it, but only does it "per Window". I would assume WB7 would do the same thing for Win7 as WB6 did for Vista regarding transparent/glassy explorer windows. But yes, there are no decent themes to use and it's no good if it interferes with system stability. zerokool316
I did that, but my thing I shouldn't have to if I paid $50.00 for that program which barely has any support for win 7, I wiped my system clean I would assume WB7 would do the same thing for Win7 as WB6 did for Vista regarding transparent/glassy explorer windows. Pam14160
Yes to the question from the OP. For others there is a new version of Windowblinds out today (7.2) that supports 64 bit systems. The new version has added more support to allow 64 bit systems to run more smoothly, and a faster refresh. Funny, when i asked stardock about that issue, they told me it was my system, my slow ass core i7 witha 5870 and 6 gigs of ram... I sadly have WB..and like all stardock products, its been a giant waste of $ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/959612-does-window-blinds-enable-transparency-win-7-or-vista/#findComment-593476104 Share on other sites
diomedes
Yes to the question from the OP. That transparency is only available in vista? I would assume WB7 would do the same thing for Win7 as WB6 did for Vista regarding transparent/glassy explorer windows. But yes, there are no decent themes to use and it's no good if it interferes with system stability. That's the trial version I tried, WB7, it had no transparency in the UI anywhere. Not exactly what you are looking for, but PowerMenu will do it, but only does it "per Window". From what I can tell, it supports everything except for Windows 7, and looks pretty old. Oh well, every year or so, when I re-install OS or upgrade I look for some chance of well designed transparency apps. I guess this upgrade/re-install is no different from the other, I'll just step down empty handed. I don't think Windows Vista is the answer either.....At least I got a good response on this forum. And on the bright side, at least I didn't spend money on crashing apps. That's really too bad to hear that happen. farmeunit
From what I can tell, it supports everything except for Windows 7, and looks pretty old. It works fine in Windows 7 both 32 and 64-bit. The only problem is you have to hold CTRL+Shift when right-clicking taskbar. Not an ideal solution by any means. Just an alternative. Island Dog
To have transparency your system must all also support Aero. What is your system specs and OS edition?
