[ubuntu]Application shortcut

Hello...

Im new to Linux..

i just downloaded and installed firefox 4.01 and i need to create a desktop shortcut to it so i dont use the terminal every time i need to run it

an ubuntu forum suggested this:

ln -sf /home/...../appname $HOME/Desktop

but i am not being able to do so..

any help?

If you locate firefox from Applications - Internet - Firefox, you can right click the icon, and create shortcut or add to launch bar. You might be able to drag the icon directly to the desktop.

Just right click on the desktop, click on create launcher, then in the command line type firefox. Give it a name and save. Hey presto. Easy.
