Apple confirms January 27 event for its 'latest creation'

Apple has begun sending select invitations to the media for its special January 27 event.

The event will begin at 10am Pacific Time on Wednesday, January 27 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The invite simply states "come see our latest creation." Apple has been long rumoured to be introducing a tablet device, possibly named "iSlate".

Stay tuned to see what Apple has up its sleeves.

Hmm, I'm curious to see what they will be releasing. I have no intention of purchasing any upgrades to my year-old Macbook at this time, and I really don't see the draw of a touch screen computer/tablet, but I am excited to see what they will be bringing out just the same.

Their latest creation?? Yea, with technology used by other companies. Nothing is just one persons/companies creation. I love how companies claim to be the only one behind a product.

Wonder if they are going to use technology from companies with no agreement to use said technology...again...

Come on, it won't be a tablet. I can almost guarantee it

You think it just Macs with i5 processors and this is just the Appke hype machine at work? Macs with touch screens also?

How do you know it's not the tablet? The tablet has been pretty much confirmed as their next big thing. Only makes sense it would be labeled as their "latest creation".

Updated hardware isn't exactly a "latest creation".

Oh lordy, another sh** product from Apple. It would be interesting to see how many people would buy a piece of poo with the Apple branding on it.

What's even better is ignorant people who judge a product before they even know what it is. Yeh you're much better than the people who blindly buy Apple products!

Oh lordy lordy lordy! Another Apple hater. You are too cool for the rest of us.

I don't understand why anything that has to do with Apple is on the front page.

Because Neowin has always reported Apple news. Like, for the past 9 years. If you don't like it you can "customize" your news from the main page so that you don't see anything tagged Apple. Then you can have it like you like it and stop complaining.

Yay!!! That's my birthday. Too bad I'm not an Apple fan lol That all depends on what's new. I do have an iphone and like the look and feel plus more. If they come out with a slate like rumoured, I might be tempted.

Yes. I mean, did you get one Neowin?

They've never been at any of the other Apple press events. Best bet is Engadget and macrumours, they usually do the best live coverage.

We should have a poll so people can bet that this iSlate is either a tablet PC or e-reader as other rumors are reporting that it could be that instead.

It's probably going to be both. A tablet that can be an e-reader, too. Imagine if Apple starts selling books on iTunes, that'd be interesting.

I mean a true e-reader that uses a electronic ink display.

Oh it would be halarious if it wasn't a tablet like everyone is saying... We've had heard it would be a tablet for a few events now... and nothing major from the past couple

I'm actually excited to see what they have up their sleeves Vague promotions like this always seem to excite me, especially when they are displayed in such bright colours :P

Me too. Apple is on a roll these days. I'll be very disappointed if it isn't the new "must have."

It's the new iToaster...with blu-ray Bagel setting!

Also it contains the Time Machine for iToaster function, which allows you to go back in time and select your favourite piece of toast and the machine will create it for you... No catch... Just the toaster sometimes flickers...

but they didn't create the tablet or the slate. They are just going to "coolify" it by making it unaffordable.

They could release one of those old fashioned adding machines, make it shiny and slap an fruit logo on it and their fans would be climbing over each other to buy one.

The sad part, I could see that happening.

I wonder how bad their stock will tank if they dont announce a tablet

Depends what they announce instead of a tablet. They're obviouslly announcing something new.

Yay for iSlate. Yay for a possible iPhone OS 4.0

Nay for any touchscreen iMacs.

Yeah, I hope iPhone OS 4.0 will be out, I have battery issues with 3.1.2 and the smart playlists never worked since September... this is the biggest issue I've seen in an OS made by Apple as of now... I mean, it's really just too obvious and it won't be fixed yet.

New iPhone OS releases generally come at the same time as new hardware... so unless they're announcing the iPhone '4G' (by that I mean 4th Gen, not some new phone network) then I doubt we'll see iPhone OS 4.0 just yet.

FYI, a 4G network does exist.

If you are a Sprint user (in the US).

AT&T will get that soon *waiting*.

heaven forbid at&t, sick of their network

What is the iSlate if it's not new hardware?

Do you really think they will do a x.x.x point release for this product? I'm pretty positive there's so many changes that OS X Mobile 4.0 (as I always called it) will surface and replace iPhone OS 3.1.2 as soon as the iSlate is out. It would make much more sense...

I think he meant the actual 4G (LTE).

Yeah deapthroat called me to an underground carpark, It dosnt require an aweful amount of effort to figure out an oversized overpriced PDA wont justify the cost.

A UMPC would be far better value for money but then again.....

You haven't seen the thing! For all we know, it could be running a completely new OS that changes the way we think of tablets.

Just going on neowins news for the last year,Just like everyone else i might add
