Borderlands 3 leak may have confirmed Epic Games Store exclusivity on PC

Gearbox Software may have accidentally revealed the release date of Borderlands 3 and that the PC version is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, or it's just an April Fool's prank.

Earlier today, the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account posted a couple of tweets that were reportedly meant to be adverts. The first revealed the action RPG would be launching on September 13, with those who pre-order the game receiving a Gold Weapon Skins Pack. The tweet that followed supposedly had a video attached to it, seen below, which had the Epic Games Store logo displayed throughout, but no sign of Steam.

Epic's exclusivity deals have ramped up quite a bit recently, gaining The Outer Worlds - published by the Take-Two interactive label, Private Division - and Quantic Dream's PlayStation exclusive lineup, among others, to most recently, Anno 1800. Borderlands 3's publisher 2K Games partnering with Epic for a timed-exclusivity deal is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Both tweets were quickly deleted, but thanks to Twitter user Wario64, we still get to have a look at these "leaks." Their quick deletion does make the tweets seem more like legitimate accidents and not pranks, but even still, April 1 is not the best day to take a leap of faith.

Gearbox is planning to release more information regarding the game on April 3 as previously announced, so we won't have to wait that long to find out if the game will release on September 13 and if the PC version will actually be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
