Latest Windows 8 and Windows 8 Server build numbers revealed

Three weeks from now, Microsoft will release the long awaited "Consumer Preview" version of Windows 8. However, it looks like the company is still internally testing beta release candidate builds for the "Consumer Preview" edition. Now the reliable Windows 8-themed site Winunleaked.tk reports that the version number for the beta candidate build for Windows 8 has been updated yet again.

According to the site's Windows 8 builds list, the latest build number for the beta release candidate is officially called 8227.0.winmain_win8beta.120207-1903. In addition, the site also has the beta candidate release build number for Windows 8 Server. For those keeping score at home, the beta sever build number is 8226.0.winmain_win8beta_srv.120207-2235. Previously it was reported that Windows 8 had entered what is known as its Beta Escrow period, where internal testers will keep testing builds of the operating system until it is ready to be released.

Microsoft itself released a new screenshot today showing an earlier beta release candidate build, 8225. It won't be long now before the Consumer Preview will be available to all PC users.

People, I said it in the other article: CALM DOWN.

It is John Callaham. What can you expect from this guy?

Overuse of the word "admit" in most of his articles, even when there's nothing for anyone to admit?

Going to have a new news article every time Microsoft compiles a build?
Panda, you should write for neowin, it's easy money.

I like the updates. That's what this site has always been about!

Alternatively just have a little box on the right saying: "Most recent Windows 8 build number: 8227". There's hardly a need for an entire news article for a meaningless 4 digit number being incremented by 2.

ohh! I think someone on the windows team just saved a new line of code! Better update Neowin!
Doesnt' matter if they wrote it. Post an article when it's COMPILED.

...and then another one when it's exploited

Dear Neowin,
Isn't this a bit redundant? I just read an article this morning that said build 8225 is out. Why this again?

I personally like knowing the build numbers, it's not public information so take what you can get? At least it's not an Apple rumor!!

If you were here during the XP testing/beta days the update over build numbers was a lot more than this. This is where Neowin's roots are, it's the tradition around here. Just fyi

lol, I'm not commenting about the build numbers. There was an article 8 hours ago by another author saying build 8225 screen shots appear by MSFT and he even posted the screenshot. I just checked neowin frontpage hoping to find news about a new smartphone lol but no.... I was notified for the 2nd time that build 8225 was released ;_;\

aka, posting the same news twice.

Maybe so, but the Server build number is new. No redundancy in that.
