Playstation 2 thrashing Microsoft, Nintendo

How long can Microsoft fund the Xbox?

A REPORT ON the gamesindustry.biz web site said that Sony's Playstation 2 sold over 6.5 million units worldwide over the holiday period. That kicks Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's console butts, with each of these firms claiming the number two position in the marketplace.

But the same web site claims that Nintendo holds the number two position with the Gamecube. Games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City contributed to the success of the Playstation 2, the site said, quoting Sony' UK managing director Ray Maguire.

We wonder how long Microsoft intends to keep pouring money into the Xbox market given these kinds of figures.
