Microsoft had multiple reveals at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event today, including the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Indiana Jones DLC. It also brought a surprise trailer for Age of Empires IV, announcing the real-time strategy game for the PlayStation platform while also giving a first look at the next expansion hitting it. Watch the new trailer above.
Age of Empires II was brought over to PlayStation 5 earlier this year too, and the newest entry is following in its footsteps with full support for controller play. This will include easily controllable automation options, simplified tactical commands, and a radial UI system for quickly selecting the relevant troops via the DualSense
Pre-purchasing the game"s Premium Edition will also give PlayStation players five days of early access to the RTS, alongside access to both expansions. This means they can begin playing on October 31, while everyone else on Standard and Deluxe packages can join starting November 4.
Also landing on November 4 is the next premium expansion to Age of Empires IV, Dynasties of the East. This is coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation with a $17 price tag thanks to a pre-order discount.
The DLC carries four new variant civilizations for players, which are the Golden Horde, Macedonian Dynasty, Sengoku Daimyo, and the Tughlaq Dynasty. Each has their own unique units, tech trees, and strategies for use against other players as well as AI opponents. Six new biomes are a part of the pack too, introducing everything from rainforests to coastlines.
In addition to all that, Age of Empires IV is receiving a brand-new game mode as part of the expansion pack. Dubbed The Crucible, it is a roguelite experience for single-player enjoyers that offers waves of enemy attacks, randomized objectives, and upgrade unlocks to make during matches.
