Amazon brings back Alexa.com from the dead with a new purpose

Amazon is bringing Alexa.com back from the dead in a new avatar at CES 2026, making it another home for Alexa+. To recall, Alexa+ was introduced in February 2025. It reached 1 million users by June and was integrated with Amazon Music later that year.

However, Alexa+ wasn"t as widely accessible as its rivals, like Gemini and ChatGPT. That"s why Amazon has rolled out the revamped Alexa.com to all Early Access customers, making the AI chatbot accessible via a web browser.

Alexa.com was previously the home to the defunct Amazon subsidiary, Alexa Internet, which analyzed internet traffic and offered website popularity charts. Amazon pulled the plug on Alexa Internet on May 1, 2022, after more than two decades of existence. In the meantime, its domain served as a landing page for Alexa products.

Now, you can use Alexa.com to summon Alexa+ to get quick answers, explore complex topics, manage to-do lists, control your smart home, make reservations, or plan trip itineraries.

A navigation sidebar present on the left side of the screen offers quick access to the chat interface, smart home controls, calendar, shopping lists, or browse files shared with Alexa+. The AI assistant can also analyze uploaded documents, emails, and images to extract key details, add appointments to the calendar, or recall specific information on demand.

Amazon said that Alexa+ can maintain context and continuity across devices and platforms, and carry over chats, preferences, and personalization settings. For instance, you can look for movie suggestions on Alexa.com, and the AI assistant will recall them on your Fire TV to stream them quickly.

Alexa+ Early Access is available to US-based customers with a compatible device, including most Echo smart speakers, Fire TV devices, and Fire tablets. While Alexa.com is free for eligible users, there are some caveats.

Alexa+ is only available in English in the US. The browser version of Alexa+ doesn"t work with Child profiles and doesn"t support voice-based interaction, leaving you with typing as the only option.
