AMD details new Ryzen AI 400 desktop APU series specs and performance

Both Intel and AMD made announcements today at the ongoing MWC 2026 event. While Team Blue outlined its plan with Xeon server chips in the 5G and 6G domain, Team Red has launched its new Ryzen AI 400 series lineup for desktops, though they will be present inside laptops too.

AMD had unveiled the 400 series mobile APUs earlier in the year at CES 2026 where it confirmed that the lineup would be later launched on desktops too. The company has thus kept its word and so it has revealed all new chips with the flagship being the Ryzen AI 7 450G with eight cores and 16 threads. Unfortunately the graphics performance will not be amazing as the top chip just has eight CU 860M.

In terms of performance, AMD touts that it do upto 50% better 3D rendering than an Intel Ultra. It also promises 30% better multi-threaded and 20% better single threaded performance, with battery life claims of close to 20 hours.
