Microsoft"s weekly Free Play Days offer for Xbox players is back, and it is touting four fresh games to try out this weekend. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Standard, and Core members can now jump into The Escapists: The Walking Dead, Bad North: Jotunn Edition, Rogue Waters, and Empyreal for no extra cost. As always, any progress made during the weekend carries over automatically if you decide to purchase a game afterward too.
It"s an indie-heavy lineup offering a variety of genres to try out this weekend. Kicking things off is The Escapists: The Walking Dead, a mashup between the prison-break gameplay of The Escapists franchise and the undead-filled world of The Walking Dead comics. Familiar characters like Rick Grimes, Hershel, and Glenn are here for players to save from zombie-surrounded locations in various familiar scenarios.
Next, strategy fans can try Bad North, the hit real-time tactics experience with roguelike elements. The minimalist, procedurally generated levels have you defending against waves of Viking invaders using your own troops.
Turn-based tactics continues with the next game, Rogue Waters, which offers a pirate-themed roguelite experience. Taking the role of Captain Cutter, you"ll have to recruit, train, and upgrade the crew, use powerful sea creatures, and fight off the immortal Captain Blackbone on the high seas.
Lastly, Empyreal is an action RPG that has you exploring a distant planet filled with alien ruins. Using one of the three available weapons, the Glaive, the Mace and Shield, or the Cannon, you can learn and use their unique fast-paced playstyles to take out incoming foes while clearing dungeons.
