Best Buy to start selling Surface online today; in some stores Sunday

As we reported on Tuesday, Microsoft has decided to unleash the hounds and allow its Surface tablet with Windows RT to be sold in outlets besides its own Microsoft Store locations. In the US, Staples is supposed to start selling the tablet today.

Now, Best Buy has confirmed it will also start selling the Surface tablet on its website beginning later today. The retailer"s website already has a landing page for the Surface RT tablet, but it"s showing a "coming soon" logo at the moment. Orders for the tablet should start to be accepted on the landing page around 1 pm Eastern time today.

In addition, Maximum PC reports that Best Buy will begin to sell Surface with Windows RT at "select retail and Mobile specialty stores" starting on Sunday, December 16th. There"s no list of which stores will have Surface in stock so you might want to check with your local Best Buy outlet to see if they will be selling the tablet.

This is good news for frequent Best Buy customers who are members of its Reward Zone program and who might have accumulated enough purchases to get a coupon from the company. They could use that coupon to slightly reduce the price of buying Surface.
