Black Myth: Wukong gains improved lighting quality, FSR 4, and more upgrades

Game Science has begun rolling out a new update for Black Myth: Wukong, bringing fresh performance improvements, upscaling tech, and bug fixes. PlayStation 5 players are looking at almost a complete reinstall of the game, though.

On PC, AMD"s FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) has arrived in the game, letting Radeon RX 9000 series owners enable the latest upscaling tech after updating to the latest available driver. The Compatible Mode has received an update, too, allowing players to disable things like ray tracing, frame generation, and super resolution functions when launching the game to fix any startup failures.

The Global Illumination setting has gone through some upgrades, with Game Science saying that the Low option now looks closer to High. The default graphics settings that are selected by the game have been refreshed as well, which should reflect all the optimizations that have landed for the game since launch. The studio does recommend uninstalling any user mods before updating to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Over on PlayStation 5, loading speed, better CPU and rendering performance, better quality motion blur, and reduced input latency for Performance Mode are here with the update, too.

It will be a massive update on the console, however. "The performance optimization this time involves a considerable number of underlying changes, which results in a relatively larger patch size," explained the studio. "If the update fails due to insufficient storage or other reasons, please try redownloading the game."

Black Myth: Wukong version 1.0.20.21756 is now live on PlayStation 5, with other platforms slated to receive it soon. Find the complete patch notes over here.

As new updates for the 2024-released action game keep landing, don’t forget that Game Science also announced a sequel just a few months ago. Titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui, this entry follows a brand-new protagonist. Find all the details here.
