Back in February last year, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Go, its most affordable ChatGPT subscription plan in India. The ChatGPT Go plan costs about ₹399 (approximately $4.5 USD) in India. Later, OpenAI expanded ChatGPT Go to several other developing nations. Since the launch in August, ChatGPT Go is now available in 170 countries. OpenAI highlighted that it is their fastest-growing subscription plan.
Starting today, ChatGPT Go is rolling out worldwide wherever ChatGPT is available. In the US, the ChatGPT Go subscription will cost $8 per month. With this availability, ChatGPT is now available in the following three subscription tiers:
- ChatGPT Go at $8 USD/month
- ChatGPT Plus at $20 USD/month
- ChatGPT Pro at $200 USD/month
ChatGPT Go sits between the free plan and the Plus plan in terms of benefits. ChatGPT Go subscribers can enjoy 10x more messages, file uploads, and image creation than the free tier using the GPT‑5.2 Instant model. They can also enjoy longer memory and a larger context window.
ChatGPT Plus includes everything in Go, plus access to advanced reasoning models, expanded message and upload limits, faster and expanded image creation, expanded deep research and agent mode, and expanded memory and context. It also adds projects, tasks, and custom GPTs, along with access to the Codex agent and Sora video generation. Plus members also get early access to new features.
ChatGPT Pro includes everything in Plus, plus pro-level reasoning with GPT-5.2 Pro, unlimited messages and uploads, and unlimited faster image creation. It provides maximum deep research and agent mode, maximum memory and context, and expanded projects, tasks, and custom GPTs. Pro also expands access to Sora video generation, offers expanded priority-speed access to the Codex agent, and includes a research preview of new features.
Another important thing to note is that ChatGPT Go will soon have ads. OpenAI will soon start testing ads in the free tier and ChatGPT Go in the US. The OpenAI team mentioned that ads will help them make AI accessible to everyone at free and affordable price points.
