Microsoft is rolling out a new update for the Copilot app for Windows Insiders. Version 1.25095.161.0 is now rolling out across all Channels, offering users two major changes: Copilot Connections and document creation.
Copilot Connectors, as the name suggests, allows you to connect the app to personal accounts in Microsoft and third-party services. Those include OneDrive, Outlook, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts. With this capability, you can use natural language to retrieve important data from services and accounts you use. For example, you can ask Copilot to get your school notes from the last week or show one of your friends" email addresses.
Here is what Copilot Connectors look like in action:
Copilot Connectors is an opt-in feature, which is disabled by default. You can get started by heading to Settings > Connectors and enabling OneDrive, Outlook, Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Contacts.
As for Document Creation, Copilot on Windows can now create and export different documents in multiple formats. You can generate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, and more. All you need to do is ask Copilot to turn a portion of text into a Word or PDF document or convert the generated table into an Excel file. If a response is 600 words or larger, you will see a dedicated button that exports the response directly to one of the Office apps:
Although the update is now rolling out to all Windows Insiders, the availability of the announced features varies because the rollout is gradual, as Microsoft usually does in the Windows Insider program. Therefore, if you do not see Copilot Connectors or the document creation option, check back in a few days.
You can find the announcement post on the official Windows Blogs website.
