Dying Light: The Beast is releasing early to celebrate selling so many pre-orders

As fans are preparing to jump into the third entry in the Dying Light survival horror action franchise, developer Techland has made a surprise change to the release date. Instead of a delay, the studio is bringing the Dying Light: The Beast release date forward by 24 hours, and it"s to celebrate a massive pre-order milestone it has already passed.

The game has now been pre-ordered by over one million players across all platforms, according to Techland, and that means everyone is getting access a full day early.

"Since more than 1 million players have already secured their copy of Dying Light: The Beast ahead of launch, we"re moving the release forward to SEPTEMBER 18," says the studio in a social media post. "Check out the global launch times for the game to play it as soon as it drops."

The game is launching across all platforms at the same time. The updated launch times can be seen in the image below:

For those unfamiliar with The Beast, this was originally supposed to be a Dying Light 2 Stay Human expansion before spinning off to be a standalone mainline entry to the franchise. The developer has said there is an 18-hour campaign attached to the experience with a dense open world. Kyle Crane from the first game is back as the protagonist too. Like with previous entries, cooperative play for the full campaign is confirmed for up to four players. Check out the detailed system requirements for desktop PCs and laptops over here.

Dying Light: The Beast launches across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on September 18. An Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launch is also planned for later. For those who purchased the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition, The Beast will be given out free, fulfilling the original promise of offering two DLCs for the game.
