Following Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED plans to launch a new Witcher game

Makers of the acclaimed Witcher series of games, CD Projekt RED, has revealed it has plans to return to the world of monsters and magic after Cyberpunk 2077 is released. The studio is currently in the process of polishing its latest project, the release of which was delayed to September earlier this year.

In a recent meeting with journalists, CD Projekt CEO and president Adam KiciƄski had confirmed that the company already has a clear concept for this Witcher universe-set single-player experience. The game will not be called The Witcher 4 though, hinting at a new direction.

However, only a small team is currently working on the game, as the studio"s two main development teams are occupied with Cyberpunk 2077"s "network mode and other offerings," probably referring to the multiplayer portion and single-player DLC.

The company has said previously that it has settled into a "dual-franchise model", working on games set in the Witcher and Cyberpunk universes, so the new confirmation isn"t that surprising. No more information about the project"s setting is known at the moment. This Witcher game could be a prequel to the existing adventures, a sequel starring Ciri, or a storyline featuring an entirely new cast of characters.
