Microsoft has announced a new feature in public preview for people on Copilot Pro+ plans called GitHub Spark. This tool allows users to build and ship applications from idea to production using natural language, visual controls, targeted edits, or code. Microsoft says that Spark is deeply integrated into its GitHub platform which is widely used for hosting code. While this is only available on Copilot Pro+ plans right now, Microsoft is planning to make it more broadly available in the near future.
GitHub Spark’s AI-backed low code functionality helps to close the gap between idea and execution and democratizes app development beyond traditional coding skills. We"ve seen AI used over the last few years to help people do coding to the point where people who don"t even know how to code have managed to make apps. This practice has earned the moniker "vibe coding".
It’s easy to get started with GitHub Spark as no setup is required. Data, LLM inference, hosting, deployments, and GitHub auth are all included. Users are also able to add AI to their apps with LLMs from various providers, such as OpenAI, Meta, DeepSeek, and xAI, without API key management.
Once an application has been built using natural language, visual editing, or code with Copilot completions, it can be deployed in one-click. GitHub Spark also supports automatic repository creation with GitHub Actions and Dependabot as well as integration with Copilot agents for iteration and issue assignments in codespaces.
The new GitHub Spark is currently available with Copilot Pro+ plans but will also be arriving to more GitHub Copilot plans soon. If you want to try it out, Copilot Pro+ will cost you $39 per month or $390 per month (12 months for the price of 10 months). Copilot Pro+ also gives you access to all models including Claude Opus 4 and OpenAI"s o3, you get 1,500 premium requests per month, and preview access to the coding agent.
