Google Play Points rewards program is getting some new rewards and perks for its users living in the UK. It"s one of the biggest updates Google has pushed to Play Points in the region since the program was launched more than half a decade ago.
One of the upcoming perks is that you"ll be able to buy collectibles and merchandise with your Play Points. It will roll out over the next few weeks, and the search giant has partnered with Android, Chrome, YouTube, and top developers to have a collection of apparel, accessories, and other items.
Google"s treasure hunt mini-game, Diamond Valley, will launch in the UK in November this year. Already available in the US, Japan, and Korea, you can search for diamonds in the game and use them to win prizes like Pixel devices, points bonuses, and exclusive merchandise.
If you"re a Gold tier member in Play Points, you"ll get 500 bonus diamonds and early access to the game starting November 3. Diamond Valley will be available to all Google Play users from November 10.
For the uninitiated, Play Points is a free-to-join rewards program for Android users, where you can earn points for buying items on Google Play. You can buy apps, in-app purchases, games, subscriptions, and books from the store. Google awards up to 8x points during special events and gives bonus points for trying featured apps and games.
The program is available in different levels or tiers. Bronze is the lowest level, where you earn 1 point per £1 spent. You reach the Diamond level after accumulating 10,000 or more points, and your conversion rate becomes 1.6 points per £1 spent.
You can redeem your Play Points for discounts and special items like characters, gems, and more. The points can also be redeemed for Google Play Credit to buy games, apps, and books.
