Google Discover is getting support for Instagram, X, YouTube Shorts

Google Discover is getting updated with "new content, formats, and features" to become a one-stop shop for a variety of articles, videos, and social media posts you find across the internet. Google announced that you"ll start seeing more content types in your Discover feed over the coming weeks.

Upcoming content formats in Google Discover will include publishers and creators from across the web, such as YouTube Shorts, and social media posts on X and Instagram. "In our research, people told us they enjoyed seeing a mix of content in Discover, including videos and social posts, in addition to articles," Google said in a blog post.

You can also start following publishers and creators on Discover, which already allows you to follow news sources. Whenever you see a card from a publisher or creator, you can tap on their name to get a preview of their content in a dedicated space before hitting the "Follow" button.

Google Discover now gives you a consolidated view of a publisher or creator"s followers across Google, X, Facebook, Instagram, and other channels. You"ll be able to see their latest articles, YouTube videos, and posts they have on different social channels. The search giant said that it will add more platforms to Discover in the future.

For those who don"t know, Google Discover is a personalized content feed that curates news stories, lifestyle content, how-to guides, videos, and other stuff without the need to enter a search query. It"s a part of Google Search, throwing suggestions after analyzing your preferences, location history, and search history on Google and YouTube.

The core service started its journey in 2016 as Google Feed and was rebranded to Google Discover in 2018 as part of a major revamp. Google Discover has been integrated into various platforms, including the Android Home Screen, where you can swipe from the left edge of the screen. It"s also available in Chrome"s mobile version, Google"s mobile website, and the Google app on iOS.
