Google reveals more hardware partners for Google TV

Google TV had a very poor introduction to the public in 2010. It only had two hardware partners, Sony and Logitech, and in 2011 Logitech decided to bail on making Google TV set top boxes after its Revue product was pretty much ignored by consumers. This week, ahead of CES 2012, Google announced a number of new hardware partners for Google TV, which got a 2.0 software update in late 2011.

In a post on the Google TV blog, the company confirmed previous reports that LG would be making TVs with Google TV software inside. Sony will be returning to the Google TV fold with new TV products alongside Samsung and Vizio, who will also be releasing Google TV-powered televisions. It looks like LG, Sony and Samsung will all be demoing their Google TV units at CES next week.

In addition, Marvell will offer up a chipset based on ARM that will power new Google TV devices in the future. As News.com reports, the first Google TV products were based on Intel"s Atom processor so the fact that it is switching to an ARM-designed chip is a big change for the software.
