Grounded 2's Toxic Tangle update adds snake encounters, ladybug mount, and new biome

Obsidian Entertainment has been consistently delivering fresh updates to its early access game Grounded 2 since its launch last year. Following the game"s content roadmap, the studio has now rolled out the Toxic Tangle update to Grounded 2, which touts fresh creatures to fight, a new mount, and even a tank-like mount.

Starting with the new biome, players will now see that another part of the park is now open for business, which has been revealed to be the Garden. This overgrown area is said to be full of twisting vines and hidden areas for our miniature players to find.

"The Garden biome is ripe for exploration, stacked with vertical climbs, secret stashes, and probably a bug or two you didn’t see coming," says Obsidian. "From the pumpkin patch to the carrot jungle, every corner offers something to harvest, hoard, or accidentally aggro. It’s big, it’s messy, and it’s absolutely crawling with trouble."

The newest mount joining the fray is the Ladybug, and apart from being a tough critter, this Buggy carries a "pressurized water cannon" on its back to blast nearby pests. This water cannon is also a useful counter to the new corrosive status effect dubbed Tang.

Speaking of bugs, Obsidian has brought several new ones to the park. This includes the Earwigs as coordinated attackers, the neutral but bulky Potato Beetles, and easily spooked Crickets, alongside Black Ants, Fireflies, Rust Beetles, and Woolly Aphids. Outside of bugs, an entire snake has also arrived, which players can run into in their adventures. This isn"t a boss battle, however.

Elsewhere, the PEEP.R scanner has received an upgrade to enable better tracking and zooming capabilities, while building and crafting have received upgrades in the form of brand-new decoration sets. Mutations have gone through changes too, splitting the options into Active and Passive branches for less skill juggling in the menus while playing.

With Grounded 2: The Toxic Tangle update now available across all platforms, Obsidian has already revealed that it is preparing to drop another update in February. This will carry the Playground mode from the original game, letting players create their own worlds with mini-games, as well as official verification for handhelds like Steam Deck and ROG Ally.
