Halo TV series still in the works

When the Xbox One was announced back in 2013, plenty of great announcements came along with it. Among the future of Xbox announcements was something that every Halo fan had ever hoped for: a big-production Halo TV series, helmed by the one and only Steven Spielberg. Since then, little news has emerged regarding the progress of the project, but at least we know it"s still a go.

IGN was able to grab a quick comment from Showtime president David Nevins regarding the continued progress of the Halo TV show. Nevins said Halo is in "very active development" but that we wouldn"t be hearing more details anytime soon. Still, we now know for sure that Showtime is involved and that it will include interactive elements to immerse us further into the show.

"The deal with Showtime has taken a long time to work out because the sides are charting new territory for a show designed to air on Showtime as well as Xbox, with enhanced interactivity built in for the latter platform. Details are still being hammered out but sources say the plan is to have episodes bow on Showtime first, followed by the Xbox window."

Halo is no stranger to the silver screen. Halo Nightfall made its debut last year alongside the release of The Master Chief Collection and gave us a small glimpse into a major character in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, which is set to release October 27, 2015.
