Microsoft Intune is a powerful cloud-based endpoint management software that is heavily used by IT admins in enterprise environments to remotely manage their fleet of devices in a unified manner. Microsoft has even called Intune the "future of device management" as it continues to reduce investments in similar software. Now, the company has unveiled all the new features it added to Intune during the month of March 2026.

For starters, Microsoft has made the notification system more robust so that devices don"t miss their check-in. On Windows, the Windows Notification Service (WNS) now leverages the same protocol used for notification in Microsoft Teams, which should enable more timely notifications. This functionality is being introduced with Remote Help for Windows, so Microsoft has encouraged IT admins to update their firewall rules to allow the new endpoint listed here.

In addition, Microsoft is adding a new control that empowers IT admins to de-union scope tags so that they have more discrete boundaries and role assignment does not extend beyond what is intended. Moreover, IT admins will be pleased to know that the Managed installer policy now applies during the Windows Autopilot device preparation so the desktop is ready prior to the out-of-the-box experience (OOBE) being completed by the user. Lastly, in this particular area, Windows Autopatch update readiness is now generally available.

On Apple"s side of the fence, Microsoft has enhanced Intune"s adoption of Apple"s Declarative Device Management (DDM) so that it extends to line-of-business (LOB) apps on iOS and iPad devices. Rather than the app install status being reported only once during device check-in, it will be reported each time there is a change.

Finally, macOS Recovery Lock enables IT admins to configure passwords on the recovery OS through MDM-based methods. This disables users from booting into recovery mode to bypass security controls. Overall, this helps improve your organization"s security posture and baselines, while also making sure that your devices stay compliant.
