Microsoft released Windows 11 version 25H2 on the final day of September 2025, just one day after releasing the September 2025 non-security update for Windows 11 version 24H2 and its successor. That update contained plenty of new features and changes, some of which are quite useful. However, even though the rollout scope of Windows 11 version 25H2 was recently increased, new features are still rolling out gradually. That means that even on the latest version, you might not have all the good stuff.
Fortunately, fixing that is as easy as executing a command in Command Prompt. Here is how to do it.
- Make sure your system is on 26200.6725 or 26100.6725 or newer. You have to install the October 2025 security update or the September 2025 non-security update. Note that all the new features are available not just on Windows 11 version 25H2, but on 24H2 as well.
- Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files wherever convenient.
- Press Win + R (did you know that it is getting dark mode support?) and type cmd. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter.
- Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive.
- Type vivetool /enable /id:57048226 and press Enter.
- Restart your computer.
That"s it. Now, all the features that Microsoft released in KB5065789 and the October 2025 Patch Tuesday updates will be available for you. Some of the most interesting changes include an easier way to input em dash and en dash, the ability to change where hardware indicators appear on the screen, gamepad improvements (long press now launches Task View), better context menus in File Explorer, additional Control Panel elements moving to the Settings app, and more. If you have a dual-monitor setup, you can also now open the Notification Center from the secondary display, which is another long-requested feature.
The next non-security update for Windows 11 is expected to bring even more features, including the redesigned Start menu and more. Like always, these will be rolling out gradually, but there will be a way to force-enable them as well.
