Microsoft has confirmed that it is letting every user on a Windows 11 and 10 PC download and install Windows 11 25H2 with one catch.

Windows 11 2025 Update, more commonly referred to as Windows 11 25H2, was released earlier this month by Microsoft. The company explained how easy it is to upgrade to the new version you already were on version 24H2 via an enablement package and shared a full list of new features users can expect to find on the newer version. Aside from those, Microsoft also announced some more features later including a new default 64-bit lightweight CLI editor, "Hey Copilot" voice activation input, and more.

Following those Microsoft has announced that the new Windows 11 feature update is available for everyone to download and install. A couple of days back it updated the status of the version to confirm broad deployment was now possible, as it explained how to get the update. This is because Microsoft has recently removed the last safeguard hold that was put in place to block Windows 11 24H2 due to compatibility issues. Head to this dedicated article to know how to fix it as the company notes it can be a bit tricky to figure out this time.

It writes that users will need to have the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" toggle enabled on their Windows Update settings page for the new 2025 feature update to appear. Microsoft has clarified that it is available for every user on Windows 11 and 10, though the obvious necessity is that you need an eligible device that meets the system requirements.

The company writes: "Starting today, Windows 11, version 25H2, also known as the Windows 11 2025 Update, is available to all eligible Windows 11 devices for users who have turned on the setting Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available."

If you have an eligible Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, you can check if the update is available by selecting  Settings > Windows Update and selecting  Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install  Windows 11, version 25H2."

However, do note that Windows 11 25H2 is not without its troubles. Recently, Microsoft confirmed that it broke localhost auth on several instances. Meanwhile, those on unsupported Windows 10 systems can look into Linux as there can be several compelling reasons to upgrade.
