Intel will announce its Tiger Lake processors on September 2

Last month, Intel revealed that it was planning "something big" for next month on September 2, though clues as to what the news might be were scarce. Now, though, the company has confirmed - perhaps by accident - that it will host a Tiger Lake launch event on that day, thanks to a listing on the company"s event calendar for investors, first spotted by Twitter user SteakisGood.

Tiger Lake is Intel"s next generation of processors, and the successor to the Ice Lake chips that are on the market right now. Just like Ice Lake, it will be based on a 10nm+ process, and it"s the company"s second generation of products to be based on 10nm, while competing products from AMD have moved on to 7nm.

A big focus for Tiger Lake appears to be graphics performance, with Intel working on the new Xe architecture that will also power its dedicated GPU in the future. The upcoming processors have been spotted in benchmarks massively outperforming its Ice Lake equivalents, and other benchmarks have even shown Tiger Lake outperforming Nvidia"s GeForce MX350 GPU.

The event calendar also mentions an event on August 13, where Intel"s chief architect, Raja Koduri, will share unspecified updates. Koduri notably came from AMD with the goal of helping Intel create its own GPU, so it"s possible the event is related to those efforts.
