KaiOS' Life app update makes life-improving content easier to find

KaiOS, the operating system designed for smart feature phones, has received an update for its Life app which contains lots of helpful content to improve people’s lives. In the new version of the app, which is launching in 30 countries, users get daily content updates, in-app web browsing, and the option to save and search for posts – making content a lot easier to find.

The specific version of this update is Life 3.1.0, and it’s available for devices with 256MB of RAM or higher in 30 countries. Users can get information on a range of topics including Upskilling, Kids Learning, Women Empowerment, Health, Digital Literacy, Agriculture, and COVID-19. The content for these topics comes from a range of sources including Wikipedia, Audiopedia, Worldreader, Justdiggit, Cherie Bwlaire Foundation for Women, Girl Effect, wikiHow, Mosabi, GSMA, and more.

Detailing the new features, KaiOS Technologies writes:

  • Dynamic feed with daily new content: We’ve changed how we display information in the app to resemble KaiNews, our news app. This approach with daily updates keeps readers engaged and ensures all content is topical and relevant at all times.
  • In-app web browsing and multimedia support: With in-app web browsing, Life users enjoy a seamless experience when viewing our partners’ content. The newly integrated video and audio player also ensures uninterrupted browsing.
  • Search and save posts: Life v2 includes a search function based on keywords so that users can quickly find the topics they want to learn about. You can now also save content for later reference.
  • Regionalized content: Partners can tailor their content per region to address local needs, cultural differences, and other localization requirements.

The Life app is available to users in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, D.R. Congo, Tanzania, Madagascar, South Africa, Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia.
