Lenovo refreshes its Legion gaming PCs with new designs, Nvidia GTX 11xx coming soon

Last year at CES, Lenovo announced its Legion line of gaming PCs, beginning with a trio of laptops. Today, the company announced a new generation of the products, including a few laptops, two towers, and two cube desktop PCs.

The most notable change is the design. If the Legion laptops seemed a little bland to you last year, you"re not alone. This year, Lenovo aimed for a sharper and cleaner design.

The Legion Y530 is a Best Buy exclusive, and there"s also a Y7000 that"s equivalent to it, and the Y730 now comes in 15- and 17-inch flavors. They"ve got aluminum designs now, and the screens have narrow bezels, coming in at just 6.7mm.

They"re also very light for gaming laptops. The Y530 and Y7000 start at 5.1 pounds, and the Y730 is 4.8 pounds and 6.4 pounds for the 15.6- and 17-inch models, respectively. This is achieved by moving the fans to the corners.

Lenovo says that its quad-venting system creates a noise canceling effect that"s 10% quieter, and it allows for the device to be much thinner and lighter.

Focusing on portability and design, Lenovo created these devices so that you can take them on the go with you - not making them big, bulky, and flashy - and then play games on them when you want to.

As far as specs go, all of these PCs come with up to an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, and up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU with 4GB GDDR5. However, they"ll be available with Nvidia"s new GTX 11xx GPUs whenever those parts start shipping.

Lenovo is also refreshing its desktop lineup, announcing two towers and two cubes. The cubes, called the C530 and C730, have a design like you see above. They have a transparent panel on the top, so you can see what"s going on inside. The lower end C530 has red LED lighting, while the C730 is customizable.

The towers, the T530 and T730, have transparent panels on the side, with the same color options. In fact, the only real difference between the C-series and the T-series is the design, so it comes down to preference and where you"re going to place the unit.

You can see from the images that they have handles on the top, so they"re easy to carry around. The C530 and T530 come with up to a Core i7-8700, while the C730 and T730 come with up to a Core i7-8700K, meaning that it"s unlocked for overclocking. All of the desktop Legion PCs can be configured with up to a GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB DDR5, with GTX 11xx on the way.

All of the new Legion will be launching at the following prices at the following times:

Legion Y7000 August $959.99
Legion Y530 June $929.99
Legion Y730 15-inch September $1,249.99
Legion Y730 17-inch September $1,179.99
Legion T530 July $829.99
Legion T730 July $929.99
Legion C530 July $829.99
Legion C730 August $929.99

You might be wondering about the Legion Y9xx series, which was the flagship. Lenovo said that it"s going to continue to produce the Legion Y920 as its flagship device, and you can expect a refresh whenever Nvidia decides to ship GPUs on its new Turing architecture.
