LG is planning to introduce its ThinQ AI platform to the European smart home market at IFA 2025. The platform integrates two key services: ThinQ UP and ThinQ Care. The goal is to provide a personalized and evolving user experience through continuous upgrades and proactive maintenance. The platform uses AI and usage data analysis to optimize product experience and enhance quality of life for consumers.
ThinQ UP allows compatible appliances to receive new features via software updates, ensuring they keep up with what people expect. ThinQ Care on the other hand offers proactive support by predicting potential issues before they occur. Smart diagnostics within ThinQ Care use usage data to detect minor issues and guide users through simple solutions to boost product reliability.
LG plans to bring region-specific ThinQ UP features based on customer feedback submitted through the Share Your Ideas function in the ThinQ app. The ThinQ UP service is expanding globally throughout the rest of the year following the European rollout.
Through ThinQ AI, LG is looking to address European consumers’ focus on energy efficiency and ease of use. Specific features include an Energy Saving Mode for washing machines and AI Saving Mode for refrigerators to reduce power consumption. Convenience features include Fresh Keeper for washing machines and a tub clean reminder. Refrigerator functions like Night View and Smart Fill also offer added user convenience.
At IFA 2025, LG will demonstrate to attendees how ThinQ AI will deliver “harmonious and differentiated smart home lifestyle scenes.” LG will provide an interactive demo app that will allow visitors to explore how ThinQ UP works. At the event, LG’s AI HOME zone will also present a Zero Labor Home concept where ThinQ AI recognizes a user’s voice to activate personalized appliance settings.
IFA 2025 will kick off on Friday, September 5, and run until September 9 in Berlin. Many other tech brands will be attending aside from LG including: Acer, AMD, Hisense, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sony, TCL.
