Mercedes-Benz integrates Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot for in-car productivity

Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft share a long-standing partnership. In a recent development, Mercedes-Benz revealed plans to integrate Azure OpenAI Service to enhance in-car voice experiences. Now, the collaboration is expanding further, with Mercedes-Benz announcing a deeper partnership with Microsoft to deliver an improved Teams meeting experience in its vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz is introducing the updated Meetings for Teams app that will allow drivers to use the in-car camera while driving. Since using the camera while driving is restricted in some countries, Mercedes will enable it only if it is approved for use in a particular country. Also, as a safety measure, the meeting video stream turns off automatically as soon as the in-car camera is activated. So, the driver can"t see the shared screens or slides during a meeting session.

The improved Meetings app also comes with a new dashboard that will display "Next Meetings," the ability to easily access frequent contacts, voice control support for replying to messages, and more. Users can also jump directly from the calendar into a Teams meeting with a single tap.

Mercedes-Benz"s in-vehicle OS, which is known as MB.OS now has integrated Microsoft Intune. This allows drivers to log in with their enterprise accounts to bring their secure data to their cars. This Intune integration enables the use of productivity apps like MBUX Notes and Calendar.

Mercedes-Benz is also bringing Microsoft 365 Copilot to its vehicles. Drivers can use voice prompts with Microsoft 365 Copilot to summarize emails, get a list of assigned tasks, and more.

Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said:

“Through our industry-leading collaboration with Microsoft, we are making it even easier for our customers to stay productive while on the move. By integrating the latest Microsoft workspace tools, such as Microsoft Teams, directly into our new operating system, MB.OS, we’ve created an intuitive and safe user experience that boosts efficiency and reduces distractions at the same time.”

The improved Meetings app, Intune integration, and Microsoft 365 Copilot will be available starting this summer with the MB.OS powered fourth-generation MBUX in the new CLA.
