Microsoft announces Windows 1.0, changes Twitter avatar to original Windows logo

If you"re looking for a bit of fun nostalgia, Microsoft has some in store. The company"s Windows Twitter account tweeted out a promo video for Windows 1.0 today. The video only has the caption, "Introducing the all-new Windows 1.0, with MS-Dos Executive, Clock, and more!!"

The video doesn"t actually have any material from the original version of the OS, other than the logo, which is also the new Windows avatar on Twitter. It starts off showing the Windows 10 logo, and then goes backward in time through each iteration of the logo, back to Windows 1.0.

We"ve reached out to Microsoft to ask what this is all about. It"s probably just a fun video that someone made, or an April Fool"s Joke from three months ago that got banned by Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela. It could also be related to the new season of Stranger Things, which is set in 1985, the same year that Windows 1.0 was released.

We"ll let you know if we hear anything from Microsoft, but until then, enjoy this fun bit down memory lane.
