Microsoft rolls out new Q&A feature for Yammer

Microsoft is adding a new way to ask questions and get answers on its business communication tool, Yammer. The new question and answer feature announced today makes it easier to get information and help from coworkers and make that information visible.

Essentially, when you create a new post on Yammer, you can now choose Question as a post type, which will format the post to better fit a Q&A-style discussion. This new format will also allow a best answer to be chosen, either by the user who asked the question or a group administrator, and that best answer will then be pinned to the top of the replies. Additionally, all users on the thread will be notified when the best answer is chosen. This should make it easier for information to be passed on to others who might be looking for it.

The ability to ask questions will also be available in live events, allowing event organizers to find unanswered questions that may pop up during the event. Questions can be answered before, during, or after the event, and it"s still possible to choose the best answer, as well as filter out questions that have already been answered.

This feature is now rolling out to all Office 365 customers, and it can be used on desktop and mobile devices alike.
