Microsoft today announced the availability of Copilot on select Samsung TVs and monitors. This new Copilot experience enables users to get answers to their questions using the power of large language models. These questions can cover a wide range of topics, including movies and TV series, general information such as the weather, and more.
Unlike most other Gen AI assistants, Copilot on Samsung TVs and monitors will have a visual appearance. Copilot will be displayed as a cute little animation that reacts and lip-syncs as it speaks. It even exhibits expressions that match the tone of the conversation. Instead of just reading out the response, Copilot can also display glanceable cards for movies, weather, and image results with ratings, photos, and key details.
Here"s how Copilot works on Samsung TVs and monitors:
- If the rollout is complete for your device, Copilot will automatically appear (on the Apps Tab) on the Samsung Tizen OS home screen within Samsung Daily+.
- Users can press the mic button on the Samsung remote and ask their questions. Copilot will respond with a mix of visuals and voice.
- For people who prefer Copilot’s personalization, memory, and already stored preferences, they can use the quick QR code to connect their existing Microsoft account.
Microsoft highlighted some sample questions that people can ask Copilot on Samsung TVs and smart monitors:
- Custom, spoiler-free recaps: “I want to get back into The Crown, I left off at Season 3, Episode 4. What happened up until then?”
- Ultra-specific recommendations: “Like The Queen’s Gambit, but about cooking instead of chess, and under two hours.”
- Post-watch deep dives: “Who was the voice actor for that character?” or “What else has the director done?”
- Everyday help: “Will Saturday in Seattle be good conditions for hiking?” or “Cheer me up after a breakup.”
Copilot is now rolling out to 2025 Samsung TV models, including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame, as well as the M7, M8, and M9 Samsung Smart Monitors in select markets. Microsoft and Samsung will bring Copilot to more TV and monitor models in the coming months.
