Microsoft"s Xbox Design Lab, which lets you customize Xbox Controllers, is expanding its reach to 27 countries through a partnership with the e-commerce platform ESW. The new development comes a couple of months after the Xbox Design Lab website returned following an eight-month blackout.
The expanded reach allows Xbox Design Labs to cover various countries in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific, including Canada, the U.S., Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Denmark, Germany, Italy, and the UK, among others.
Xbox Design Lab has been around since 2016, where you can customize the color, style, and finish of different components, such as the case, D-Pad, thumbsticks, buttons, and more on the standard Xbox Wireless Controller and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. However, it"s worth noting that you can"t change the design after you place an order, or return a customized controller after it"s delivered.
Time and again, the Redmond giant has introduced new aesthetics for Xbox controllers and accessories. More recently, it unveiled themed Xbox controllers based on Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2.
The Xbox Design Lab website became inaccessible around December 2024, notifying users that it was changing payment processors. It was relaunched in the first week of August this year after its dry spell.
"This relaunch marks a major milestone for Xbox Design Lab. We needed a merchant of record that would provide a high level of customer service and product road map. ESW’s agility and support were critical in helping us to achieve our goals," says Xbox Design Lab"s product manager, Tejaswi Kotekar.
ESW has developed a customized, fully embedded checkout experience for Xbox Design Lab, with plans to add more payment options in the future. The e-commerce platform said it"s "serving as Xbox Design Lab’s Merchant of Record and international ecommerce partner," meaning it will be responsible for processing customer payments.
