Microsoft releases Windows 10 build 17763.195, 17134.472, with IE fixes

Last week was Patch Tuesday, and due to the holiday season, Microsoft said that it wouldn"t be releasing any other cumulative updates this month. As it turns out though, something was broken enough that it needed to be fixed, as today, the firm released new cumulative updates for all supported versions of Windows 10.

Each update only has one fix listed:

  • Security update to Internet Explorer.

Given that Microsoft said that there wouldn"t be more updates this month and that this is the first time that version 1507 has been updated twice in a month since January, this security flaw in Internet Explorer was seemingly given some priority.

Those on the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, or version 1809 will get KB4483235, which brings the build number to 17763.195. You can manually download it here.

For the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, or version 1803, those users will get KB4483234, which brings the build number to 17134.472. You can manually download it here, and there are some known issues to be aware of:

After installing KB4467682, the cluster service may fail to start with the error “2245 (NERR_PasswordTooShort)” if the Group Policy “Minimum Password Length” is configured with greater than 14 characters.

Set the domain default "Minimum Password Length" policy to less than or equal to 14 characters.

Next up is the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, or version 1709, which will get KB4483232, bringing the build number to 16299.847. You can manually download it here, and there"s one known issue:

The update for the Windows 10 Creators Update, or version 1703, is KB4483230, and it brings the build number to 15063.1508. It has the same known issue as the one for 1709, and you can manually download it here. Note that version 1703 is unsupported for Windows 10 Home and Pro, so this is for Education and Enterprise only.

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) and Windows Server 2016 will get KB4483229, bringing the build number to 14393.2670. You can manually download it here, and it contains quite a few known issues:

System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) managed workloads are noticing infrastructure management issues after VMM refresh as the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) class around network port is being unregistered on Hyper-V hosts. Run mofcomp for the scvmmswitchportsettings.mof, VMMDHCPSvr.mof, and other relevant SCVMM MOF Files. Please upgrade thru the SCVMM 2016 Update Rollup 6 (UR6)to expedite the Host Refresh activities after running mofcompcommand.
After installing this update on Windows Server 2016, instant search in Microsoft Outlook clients fail with the error, "Outlook cannot perform the search".

To alleviate the symptoms, run sfc /scannow as described in step 3 of Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. Then restart Microsoft Outlook.
