The Fallout series is having a renaissance right now thanks to the wildly popular television series. Ahead of the season 2 release, Microsoft today surprised fans with a brand-new Xbox accessory launch. The releases come in two flavors: Xbox Wireless Controller – Fallout Pip-Boy and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Fallout Pip-Boy.
The design is based on the in-game hand-worn computer, the Pip-Boy, designed by the in-universe company Vault-Tec. The new controllers" front sports the iconic Health panel from the Pip-Boy"s primary stats screen. There are some slight differences in the faceplate designs depending on which controller you pick up.
This is the second Fallout-themed Xbox controller to come out of Microsoft. Fans may remember that the 2024 design was focused on the Vault Boy mascot.
"While the first Fallout designed controllers were focused on Vault Boy and all his different incarnations, we wanted Fallout fans to be able to gear up with the same tech that their characters use," explains Tristan Munley, Product Marketing Manager, Xbox Accessories. "The Xbox controller designs replicate that warm green hue that emits from your own personal Pip-Boy, with instantly recognizable game HUD icons to match."
The Fallout Pip-Boy standard Xbox controller is available for pre-order now for a limited time for $83 from the Microsoft Store.
This release is also a part of the Xbox Design Lab, with both standard and Elite variants available for full customization. This includes changing up the color scheme of the buttons to match in-universe factions, adding an engraving, swapping in metallic parts for the triggers and D-pad, and other changes.
Like other special edition Xbox controllers, all features from a standard Xbox Wireless and Elite Controller are here too, like the share button, 3.5mm audio jack, and remappable controls. The Elite version lands with adjustable-tension thumbsticks, a wrap-around rubberized grip, and shorter hair trigger locks. They are both usable across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PCs, and mobile devices thanks to Bluetooth and official Xbox Wireless connectivity support.
