Gametech, the makers of NeoFami and AdoFami, will release a standalone console that lets players use their original Famicom (Japanese NES) cartridges to play games.
In line with the retro-Famicom fervor that"s hitting the game industry in Japan, Gametech has been releasing systems that enable Famicom cartridge owners to use their old games. The first, the NeoFami, is a regular sized console released in December 2003; the second, AdoFami, is a peripheral that attaches to the Game Boy Advance that piggybacks the handheld console to play the original games; the third, still unnamed console is a standalone handheld system that will be able to play Famicom games by itself.
