Last month, OnePlus promised to release an update for its new flagship-class phone to address RAM management concerns, and criticisms related to the poor color calibration of its display. On Monday, it released the OxygenOS 3.2.0 update for the OnePlus 3 - but its rollout was quickly halted, due to unspecified "reports of issues while upgrading".
Now, the update is back - but as OnePlus explained in its blog post, "rather than continuing that rollout, we"re skipping right ahead to 3.2.1." Those who already installed OxygenOS 3.2.0 should be able to upgrade to 3.2.1 without any issues.
OnePlus says that this latest version "includes some additional improvements" compared with 3.2.0 - but according to the list it published, there"s only one addition in 3.2.1 that wasn"t available in the previous release (which we"ve highlighted below in bold):
- Fixed some notification issues
- Addressed SIM recognition issue
- Enabled sRGB mode in developer options
- Improved RAM management
- Improved GPS performance
- Enhanced audio playback quality
- Updated custom icon packs
- Improved camera quality/functionality
- Fixed some issues in Gallery
- Implemented latest Google security patches
- Fixed bugs in Clock/Music apps
OnePlus offered no further explanation of what that "SIM recognition issue" was that it fixed, nor indeed if that was a factor in its decision to halt the update earlier this week.
Notably, while the company pointed out that the rollout of OxygenOS 3.2.1 "will be incremental, so you might not see the update just yet", it avoided repeating its earlier commitment to complete the rollout for all OnePlus 3 handsets within 48 hours.
