Following many years of waiting, Ninja Gaiden fans finally received a brand-new mainline entry last year. We found Ninja Gaiden 4 to be an exhilarating action experience, giving it high marks for its addictive combat and weapon styles in our review. Now, it"s almost time for its long-promised expansion to land.
Today, Team Ninja announced that The Two Masters expansion will land on March 4, 2026, continuing the story of Yakumo and Ryu Hayabusa. The campaign addition will add three new chapters to the ninja experience, bringing new enemies, tougher bosses, and fresh trials to complete.
Adding to the pile of weapons already available in the base game, two new melee options are joining the fight with the expansion. This will include the Solitaire scythe for Yakumo with plenty of crowd control potential, as well as the Jakotsumon serpent gauntlets for Ryu, which tout new ways of closing the distance on enemies and a fast, close-quarter fighting style.
There will also be a new mode aimed at those looking for even tougher and longer-lasting fights. Dubbed the Abyssal Road, this mode will pit players against 100 unique combat encounters that feature both base game and expansion enemies, where only the most skilled combatants will survive.
While the expansion"s events are happening after the base campaign"s storyline, the two new weapons will be available for use in the original game mid-playthrough. However, accessing the new trials and Abyssal Road challenge mode requires players to finish the expansion story campaign on any difficulty.
Ninja Gaiden 4: The Two Masters will be available free to Ninja Gaiden 4: Deluxe Edition owners when it lands on March 4. Everyone else can grab the expansion for $14.99 as a standalone purchase on the same day across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
