Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (4b), introducing a handful of notable upgrades. The launch also comes just days after the company confirmed that its CMF sub-brand would not release a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro this year, citing rising memory prices and increasing production costs. Despite these challenges, the tech giant"s own smartphone roadmap continues to move forward.

If you"ve used or seen previous Nothing phones, the Phone (4b) won"t look completely new. Instead, it combines design elements from the Phone (4a) series, pairing the unibody construction of the Phone (4a) Pro with the updated Glyph Bar on the Phone (4a). Powering the Phone (4b) is Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 4nm chipset designed to improve both performance and efficiency over previous generations. The processor is also paired with Qualcomm"s sixth-generation AI Engine.

On the front, the Phone (4b) sports a 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The panel reaches up to 1,200 nits of brightness outdoors and peaks at 2,000 nits, while a 1,000Hz instant touch sampling rate is intended to improve responsiveness during gaming.

Furthermore, the Phone (4b) features a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, alongside a 119-degree, 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 16MP front-facing camera. Video recording tops out at 4K resolution at 30fps. The camera app has also picked up several new editing tools, including professional-style presets, manual controls, a reflection removal feature, and seven exclusive Nothing watermarks. When it comes to the audio, it is delivered through dual stereo speakers.

Nothing"s signature Glyph lighting system is back. The updated Glyph Bar uses 45 mini-LEDs arranged across four lighting zones, alongside a dedicated red recording indicator, capable of reaching up to 3,500 nits of brightness. The company has also included a 4,400 mm² vapour chamber to help keep temperatures under control during demanding tasks.

One of the more interesting additions is TrueLens Engine 4; it introduces Ultra XDR imaging, which combines 13 RAW frames to improve dynamic range and produce more balanced highlights, shadows, and colours. Video recording also benefits from optical image stabilisation (OIS), electronic image stabilisation (EIS), and AI anti-shake technology. Another new feature is dual video recording, allowing users to capture footage from the front and rear cameras at the same time.

Moreover, AI continues to play a central role in the software. The Phone (4b) includes the company"s full Essential AI experience, with built-in ChatGPT integration alongside Google Gemini, Circle to Search, and Hey Google support. The dedicated Essential Key also returns, providing quick access to Essential Space, Essential Search, Essential Voice, Essential Apps, and Playground.

The Phone (4b) ships with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16. The company is also promising three years of Android version updates and six years of security patches. The phone carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance as well.

In terms of battery capacity, the global model packs a 5,200mAh battery, while the Indian variant increases that to 6,000mAh. Nothing claims this is the "longest-lasting battery ever," with enough capacity to deliver up to two days of use on a single charge. Charging is handled via 33W wired fast charging, which should be able to take the battery to 50% in 30 minutes and complete a full charge in a little over an hour.

Global pre-orders for the Nothing Phone (4b) are now live, with open sales beginning on 17 July. The phone will be available globally in black, white, and blue in an 8GB + 128GB configuration, priced at £299, €329, and ₹29,999.

In India, sales begin on 14 July through Flipkart before expanding to Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales from 17 July. Indian buyers will also have access to an 8GB + 256GB model, priced at ₹33,699, while the 8GB + 128GB version starts at ₹29,999 after eligible bank discounts and exchange offers. The official retail prices are ₹34,999 and ₹38,999, respectively.
