Nvidia GeForce NOW RTX 5080 server upgrade is complete, offering up to 5K 120FPS streaming

Back in September, Nvidia announced that it would be rolling out a major hardware upgrade to its cloud gaming platform GeForce NOW. This involved adding Blackwell SuperPOD servers, offering RTX 5080-level performance, for subscribers in supported regions. Today, the tech giant announced the completion of its objective.

RTX 5080-level servers are available for Ultimate membership holders in supported regions, though not all games in the service support the upgrade just yet. Nvidia says that the new servers offer benefits like 5K at 120 FPS (or 360 FPS at 1080p), DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, and ultra-low latency streaming for supported games.

As can be seen on the server upgrade rollout page, the company is celebrating the new hardware with some contests and rewards for subscribers.

Meanwhile, Nvidia today introduced the GeForce NOW Chromebook Fast Pass, a 12-month package for Chromebook owners that offers 1080p and 60 fps streaming with no ads.

"It’s never been easier to turn a Chromebook into a high-powered gaming rig," said the company. "Grab a Fast Pass, jump into the action and take favorite PC games anywhere — whether at home or on the go. This offer is available for new Chromebook and Chromebook+ owners, as well as new and existing GeForce NOW free users."

A new selection of games has joined GeForce NOW"s supported list this week too:

  • SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide (New release on Steam, Nov. 18)
  • Long Drive North (New release on Steam, Nov. 18)
  • Demonschool (New release on Steam, Nov. 19)
  • Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault (New release on Steam and Xbox, available on Game Pass, Nov. 20)
  • Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road (New release on Steam and Xbox, available on Game Pass, Nov. 20)
  • Prologue: Go Wayback! (New release on Steam, available Nov. 20)
  • The Crew Motorfest (New release on Xbox, available on PC Game Pass, Nov. 20)
  • Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy (Steam)
  • Sacred 2 Remaster (Steam)

In addition to these games receiving cloud gaming support, Nvidia also announced one more title that now also has support for the new RTX 5080 servers available for Ultimate members. This is Ubisoft"s open-world action game Star Wars Outlaws.

As always, keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia"s cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
