Nvidia had a lot of announcements during its Gamescom sessions, and some of them are focused on some major GeForce NOW cloud gaming overhauls. The biggest of which is the addition of brand-new RTX 5080 servers to its stack in September.
"GeForce RTX 5080-class GPUs bring a staggering 62 teraflops of compute performance, a 48GB frame buffer, more than 3x the performance of current consoles and 2.8x faster frame rates than previous-generation servers," says the company. "Advanced ray tracing, richer textures and AI-enhanced rendering with AMD “Zen 5” CPUs and NVIDIA ConnectX-7 networking deliver an experience that’s more responsive than ever."
With support for DLSS 4, users of these newly upgraded Blackwell-architecture servers will gain Multi Frame Generation, Nvidia Reflex, and better quality streaming from AI optimizations, as well as higher frame rates on devices like the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go S, and some supported LG displays. Nvidia adds that prices will remain the same even with the RTX 5080 addition for Ultimate membership owners, though only select games will gain support at launch.
While the company will remain committed to adding games to its supported list of titles weekly, it is also introducing a new way for players to bring more of their games to the cloud. The new Install-to-Play feature adds over 2,000 more games to the supported list, giving players 100GB of space within its servers, for Ultimate and Performance members, to install games they may want to play from their own libraries.
Nvidia will be offering additional data packs for those who want more space for their games too. This will cost an extra $2.99 for 200GB, $4.99 for 500GB, and $7.99 for 1TB every month.
Nvidia also gave a timeline for when it plans to bring GeForce NOW to India. The region expansion is now slated to happen in November in partnership with Brothers Picture.
Lastly, here are the games gaining support for cloud play this week:
- Stick It to the Stickman (New release on Steam, Aug. 18)
- Blacksmith Master (New release on Xbox, available on PC Game Pass, Aug. 19)
- VOID/BREAKER (New release on Steam and Xbox available on PC Game Pass, Aug. 19)
