OnePlus’ upcoming mid-range offering, the OnePlus Nord, is expected to be unveiled on July 21. Details about the phone have leaked extensively, with some information being confirmed by the company itself. Now, the firm has confirmed the details of the device’s camera specifications in a blog post, putting an end to the – fairly accurate – leaks and rumors about its camera prowess.

The rear of the phone sports a quad-camera array – something that was revealed in a recent video. As for the specifics, the main camera unit is a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, which is the same sensor present on the OnePlus 8 Pro, albeit used for ultra-wide-angle photography duty. Simon Liu, Imaging Director for the OnePlus Nord, says that selecting the main sensor for the phone was “easy”. The sensor boasts of a wide f/1.75 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The company says it has optimized the image processing through “a range of software enhancements”.

The other units on the back include an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP depth sensor, and a macro sensor. The company did not provide the resolution of the macro camera.

On the front-facing side, the Nord will sport a dual-camera setup as teased earlier, housing a 32MP main unit coupled with an ultra-wide sensor. While the firm did not provide a number for the resolution of the ultra-wide unit, it is rumored to be an 8MP one. The company adds in its post that the phone will use AI-based processing to brighten images and reduce noise in low-light selfies.

As for other specifications, the OnePlus Nord will come with a Snapdragon 765G 5G-enabled chipset and is expected to cost under $500. The phone will be launched on July 21 at 3PM BST, 7:30PM IST, or 7AM PT via an AR event.
