OPPO teases "Waterfall Screen" tech with curved edges and super slim bezels

Many of the smartphone innovations today often come from Chinese OEMs, and quite a few names easily figure in the list of the most innovative phone makers from China if their recent streak of accomplishments is any proof. There"s Vivo, which introduced the pop-up front camera with the NEX phone, and OPPO, which took a different spin on elevating selfie shooters with the Reno series, among other things.

A few months after unveiling its latest flagship phone, OPPO seems to be preparing to introduce a new innovation to the smartphone space. In a Twitter post, the Chinese firm teased what it calls a "Waterfall Screen" technology. This was exhibited further in a number of images showing a phone with a display that features curved edges.

There"s no exact word on its screen-to-body ratio yet. For context, the Reno 10x Zoom has a 93% screen-to-body ratio while the Find X has 93.8%. The Waterfall Screen could have a screen-to-body ratio that"s even higher than those aforementioned.

OPPO suggests a "borderless smartphone innovation", which could mean it is bringing the ratio close to 100%. The company didn"t say, however, whether the new screen technology will be incorporated into an entirely fresh smartphone series or an existing one.
