Peter Molyneux's next game, Curiosity, coming August 22nd

Peter Molyneux isn"t wasting time with launching his next game, soon after he decided to depart from Lionhead Studios and Microsoft earlier this year. Today, it was revealed that his first game with his new company, 22 Cans, will be titled Curiosity.

Eurogamer reports that the game will be coming to the PC and other platforms on August 22nd. Molyneux says that Curiosity will allow people to chip down on a virtual cube that"s made up of 60 million smaller cubes. There"s apparently some kind of secret inside the mega-cube, which only one player will be able to reach. After that secret is revealed, 22 Cans says it will study how the news of that secret is spread out over online social networks.

Molyneux says that Curiosity will be able to support a million players at once, all chipping away at the cube. The game will also support microtransactions for players to purchase tools to chip at the cube. One of them will cost a whopping $50,000.

Molyneux said today he makes no apologies for the microtransaction model for Curiosity, including the diamond $50,000 tool. He states, "I"m not saying that you have to buy these chisels - and I don"t expect the diamond chisel to ever be purchased. If it is I want to meet that person. They may be an investor or something!"
