PlayStation censors horror game Martha Is Dead

Martha Is Dead is an upcoming first-person horror game from Wired Productions. It takes place in Italy during World War II and follows the murder of the titular character. Just like many other experiences in the genre, it has many disturbing scenes, but it seems like some are too much for PlayStation.

Wired Productions just posted a message on Twitter telling PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) owners that the game would be censored on the systems. The physical release will also be pushed back for PS4 and PS5, but the game will be available digitally on February 24, 2022 through the PlayStation Store. The content PlayStation doesn"t approve will be heavily edited or removed.

There are rumors floating around that the scene PlayStation wanted the developer to modify involved surgically removing someone"s face and wearing it as a disguise to hide from a supernatural force. It"ll be interesting to compare the uncensored version with the one available on the PlayStation Store in a few weeks.

Martha Is Dead is also coming to PC and Xbox, so if you want to play the uncensored version, you can pick it up on the Microsoft Store or Steam. Games, just like other forms of media, shouldn"t be censored because it affects the creative vision of the developer.

What do you think of Martha Is Dead being censored? Would you play it? Let us know in the comments below.
