Protection is important for any kind of computer

Last week, we began a conversation with tech experts about the relative security of Macintosh computers and PCs running Windows.

In fact, quite a few programmers and system administrators, among others, have pointed out vulnerabilities built into the Windows operating system as well as in Internet Explorer, Outlook and other Office applications.

In response, a Microsoft spokesperson agreed that Windows attracts the major share of virus and hacker attacks, adding that "by working closely with the security community — including vendors, government agencies and academia — we have been successful in creating a more secure platform. Windows XP is the most secure operating system Microsoft has created."
