We are a few months away from the launch of the next iPhone refresh, due in September. While we don"t know the entire specifications yet, it is expected that upgrades will be incremental rather than radical this year.
Today, purported models of the upcoming iPhone variants have been spotted in the Eurasian regulatory database.
As spotted by Consomac in the Eurasian Economic Commission"s (EEC) regulatory filings (screenshot above), references of model numbers A2628, A2630, A2634, A2635, A2640, A2643, and A2645 can be spotted. It is important to note that none of these numbers belong to existing versions of iPhones, likely suggesting that these refer to the upcoming iPhone 13.
Not much else can be deciphered from the filing but the wording indicates the models are currently running iOS 14. This will likely not be the case when the devices officially launch, considering Apple announced iOS 15 at its WWDC 2021 conference just a few days ago.
Although we don"t know the full list of specifications yet, there have been rumors that this year"s iPhone refresh will feature an always-on 120Hz display, a smaller notch, a vapor chamber for better cooling, smaller batteries and a storage option of up to 1TB. There has also been speculation that it will support faster 5G in multiple countries. We"ll know for sure how much all of these rumors hold up once Apple officially unveils its new hardware in September.
