Yesterday, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 765 and 765G at its Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui. The new 5G Mobile Platforms aim to bring 5G to lower-cost devices. As it stands right now, you can"t get a 5G smartphone in the U.S. for under $820, so bringing 5G to the Snapdragon 700-series will bring the cellular technology to the high-end tier.
The Snapdragon 765 includes a Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF System, promising peak download speeds of up to 3.7Gbps. Just like the X55, it supports both 4G and 5G, mmWave and Sub-6GHz, and so on. In fact, the only difference between the X52 and X55 modems is the peak download speed.

The chipset includes a new Kryo 475 CPU with a clock speed of up to 2.3GHz, along with an Adreno 620 GPU for a 20% performance boost. Moreover, it contains some Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, particularly on the more gaming-centric Snapdragon 765G.
It includes the fifth-generation AI Engine that"s also in the Snapdragon 865, packing a Hexagon Tensor accelerator that"s twice as fast as its predecessor. There"s also a low-power Sensing Hub, which lets the device be aware of voice commands without draining the battery.
Devices with the Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G will be available in the first quarter of 2020.
