Today, Intel finally announced the ninth-generation H-series Intel Core processors, and so manufacturers are quickly readying laptops with the latest and greatest hardware. In addition to the refreshed Blade 15, Razer is introducing a redesigned Blade Pro 17, which also comes with the new chips from Intel, as well as Nvidia"s RTX graphics cards.
The Razer Blade Pro 17 comes with an Intel Core i9-9750H processor, which is clocked at 2.6GHz but supports overclocking up to 4.5GHz. There"s also 16GB of DDR4 RAM which can be upgraded up to 64GB, with support for Intel XMP-compatible memory. For storage, you get a 512GB SSD and an additional open M.2 slot, allowing upgrades up to a total of 4TB of SSD storage. The display is just Full HD (1920x1080), but it does have a 144Hz refresh rate, it covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and it"s got minimal side bezels at just 6mm.
For graphics, there are three options, all from Nvidia: the cheapest model comes with an RTX 2060 GPU, the mid-tier comes with an RTX 2070 with Max-Q design, and the top-end offers an RTX 2080, also with Max-Q design. The laptop also comes with Nvidia"s Creator Ready drivers for creative professionals.
Aside from that, the new Blade Pro 17 comes with a healthy supply of ports, with three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and one Type-C port that"s also USB 3.2 Gen 2. There"s one Thunderbolt 3 port, a 2.5Gb Ethernet port, one HDMI 2.0b port, and a UHS-III SD card reader. Wireless connectivity should also be pretty decent with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support.
As you"d expect from Razer, the keyboard is backlit and can be customized with 16.8 million colors thanks to Razer Chroma, and the trackpad comes with Precision drivers, so it should be pretty good. The keyboard is flanked by two large speaker grills (which support Dolby Atmos), which means there"s no room for a number pad.
The new Razer Blade Pro 17 will be available in May in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and China. The prices for each model are $2,499 for the RTX 2060 variant, $2,799 for the RTX 2070 Max-Q, and $3,199 for the RTX 2080 Max-Q.
